La technique de l'ikat est très particulière : les fils de chaîne, noués par paquets aux endroits qui correspondent au dessin subissent plusieurs bains de teinture puis sont dénoués et fixés sur le métier à tisser. C'est ce qui fait l'attrait de l'ikat: un tissu qui "vibre".

The Ikat technique is a very specific one: The warp threads are wrapped and binded according to the design pattern to resist the dyeing . Then, the tied areas are unbound and the warp is fixed on the loom ready to be weaved. The appeal of ikat comes from his sheer vibrancy obtained by this method.
